Chilled Iron Shot

Chilled Iron Shot is a metallic abrasive used in surface preparation processes like shot blasting and cleaning. It is produced by atomizing molten iron and rapidly cooling (chilling) it to form spherical particles with high hardness.

What is Chilled Iron Shot?

Chilled iron shot is:

• Made from cast iron

• Hard and brittle

• Used for cleaning, descaling, and surface preparation

It is mainly used in industries where surface finishing and rust removal are required.

Manufacturing Process

1️⃣ Molten iron is atomized into small droplets
2️⃣ Rapid cooling (chilling) forms spherical particles
3️⃣ Screening and grading into different sizes

The rapid cooling increases hardness but makes the shot relatively brittle compared to steel shot.
